The Utilitarian Theory Of Property - 1480 Words
The Utilitarian theory of property looks to maximize utility for all when property decisions are made. The common statement for the utilitarian property theory is that in making a property the decision should do the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. The problem of course with this theory is that there are many different definitions and ways to measure utility. While one of the founds of Utilitarianism, Jeremy Bentham looked at pleasure to measure utility, aggregated in a balancing system for decision-making, the problem with this view is that it included pleasure derived from bad things as well. A popular idea, under the Law and Economics theory, an offshoot of Utilitarianism, is looking at it from an economic perspective using wealth to identify and go through a cost-benefit analysis. The problem of course is looking at the price of which people are willing to pay necessarily depends on perfect information and that wealth effects will not influence the numbers. Ap plying a cost-benefit utilitarian analysis for the property decision in the Beacon Hill case leads to confusing and shows the problem of looking at decisions regarding cultural property through a Utilitarian lens. 1. Impasse in Race Relations
Question: Discuss about the Impasse in Race Relations ? Answer: Introducation In this essay "Impasse in Race Relations, Martin Luther King Jr. felt privileged to personally address all the Canadian audience that were present nationwide. He reminded everybody of the historical relationships that once existed between American Negroes and Canadians, hence considering both U.S. and Canadian citizen above just being the citizens of North America. King Jr. reminded the listeners about the role of Canadians as the North Star in the history of the struggle for America's freedom (Longaker and Walker, 2011). A Rhetorical Analysis of "Impasse in Race Relations, by Martin Luther King Jr. King Jr. recalled how the Negro slaves were imprisoned, dehumanized and denied education, but hoped for freedom on the north land. He mentioned about the railroad that linked the south and Canada, towards their road to freedom. He described, how in difficult times, they thought of escaping to Canada which was considered as a heaven by following the Underground Railroad. He did the mention the term Follow the Drinking Gourd, that carried a disguised direction towards the Canadian border by following the North Star. And while standing on its ground, it reminded him of the past struggles they had for freedom along with Canadian people. Luther did discuss how the Underground Railroad was not enough to free all the slaves but that was their only hope for the freedom. It did become a symbol of hope when it was impossible to think of freedom. He focused on how it took centuries to free the Negroes from slavery. Hence, he asked everyone to keep the faith and to think not only about freedom but how it could be achieved (Larrotta, 2016). In Paragraph 7, King Jr. mentioned the two phases of struggle which did play an important role in the recent past. The first struggle began in the early fifties when the doors to submission and subservience were shut by the Negroes. By adapting the conditions that offered non-violent resistance in the United States, they kept demanding for their rights and citizenship. To fight the brutal discrimination that was practiced in south, he recalled how they created a rebellion in the north. King Jr. also recalled how they marched on streets to mark their protest against slavery and for their freedom. He discussed boycotting the public transports in Districts of Montgomery, thus demonstrating the problem which occurred in Birmingham, and how they maintained non-violence, even during the courses of defying guns, segregation, dogs and clubs in Selma, and thus confusing the rulers in the south. Later their protests were supported by many white Americans as well and they collaborated for keeping the human dignity alive. In Paragraph 9, King Jr. explained the need for the Negroes and the whites to coexist together. He mentioned how Negroes were focused on freedom and whites on their personal improvement. Later when the laws changed and Negroes were given the opportunity for education and employment opportunities, it contributed to the overall sense of completion. Then the author explained about the second phase of struggle when the whites resisted against the involvement of Negroes in much higher level in the social structure. King Jr. also discussed the various racism problem that existed in the U.S. culture from the very beginning. There was a resistance from white in every field that made the goal of freedom out of reach from the Negroes, as they struggled to fight against this injustice and racism issued in the society. In Paragraph 11-12, King Jr. did a discussion on the riots that occurred from 1955 to 1965, that underestimated the violence suppressed by Negroes and bigotry of disguised action by white majority people. Then the contradiction occurred between Negroes and whites due to those series of riots. Also, the author explained how some Negroes turned to violence for fighting for their own position and survival and thus gave an extra edge to the white people (www.revolvy.com, 2017). In Paragraph 14-16, Luther Jr. emphasized on whether the guilt behind the riots was only applicable to Negroes and whether those issues gave new direction towards their struggle for freedom. Later, he referred to the ghetto outbreaks which he tried to elaborate through his writing, mainly emphasizing on two sentences written by Victor Hugo, a century ago. There Hugo mentioned that sins were committed by the souls when they are left in darkness. But the guilt is the one which does cause this darkness, but not actually committing the sin. The author compared sayings by Victor Hugo, with the condition of Negroes in the society which was built by the White Americans, as he explains how the discrimination in terms of behavior, social inequality and injustice has forced the Negroes to protest against the atrocities carried on them. Hence, he believes that the root cause behind the actual crime and riots were the white people themselves that created separate laws for Negroes living in slums and encouraging hatred towards this community. In Paragraph 18, King Jr. appealed to the society that the term whites do not relate only to the Americas white people community, but are referred to that section of people who are opposing the rights that the Negroes are privileged to and thus raising discriminating culture in their society. He also appreciated many white people who actually gave up their traditional culture to accept the Negroes and are concerned about their welfare. He explains how their fights are against the ideologies and policies that are set by the leaders of white people, not against the entire white people community. In Paragraph 20, the author took five specific elements that he thinks might have caused those riots- practicing pervasive discrimination, white backlash, unemployment, Vietnam War, extensive migration and urban problems. The backlash resulted due to the emotional outburst of the white people, who consistently tried to create pressure on Negroes to remain poor and unequal permanently. The author painfully explains how the old generation of Negroes had to go through various discrimination practices, but it was later opposed by the younger generation due to the restrictions forced upon them in their schools, neighborhoods, society and as well as job sector (Sunnemark, 2003). In Paragraph 21-22, Luther describes the situation of few Negroes who managed to step forward towards the economic and social ladder, since it was not easily achieved due to all the opposing forces of other communities that tried hard to bring them down. Also, this whole discrimination phase was enough reason to give rise to unemployment across the country during the 30's when the United States was edging towards revolution phase. According to the author, this created further rage and rebellion amongst the Negro people. In Paragraph 23, the author did mention about the effect of war that took place in Vietnam. It constituted 20% of Negro soldiers as compared to their 10% existence amongst the whole population count in America. Luther Jr. emphasizes on how this war had killed a huge number of Negro population as they attempted to defend Saigon government. In Paragraph 24, King Jr. described the ultimate cause of riots, which was due to the declining condition in urban life including air pollution, inadequate public facilities, and contaminated water along with financial crisis. The author explained the condition of Negroes during that pitiful phase. He also added the information on how the white people were provided free lands, facilities, and income sources, in contrast to Negroes, who were treated and denied any kind of resources after immigrating to America. He thinks all these conditions had fueled the causes behind riots violence by this community. In Paragraph 26-28, King Jr. expressed his personal beliefs that to never accept defeat, even if the situation seems worst. He focused on how these riots created an awareness amongst many political leaders from the white community, who agreed on the fact that the social injustice and discrimination was a huge factor in causing those riots and hence need addressing. They were addressing those issues not because of Negro welfare, but for sustaining peace in their own cities. And they were far behind from creating any government act at that moment. In the following few paragraphs, King Jr. demanded about a program, that will address all issues faced by the Negroes and provided them opportunities and stable source of incomes. He stressed on demolishing slums to rebuild them in a proper manner. The author was still convinced that all these were achievable using non-violence. Luther mentioned the society is not totally based upon justice but there was a certain injustice which did prevail. According to him, there were various presumptions based on so-called commitments towards justice in the name of national interest. Basically, that was a strategy for recorded stress that leaves unsettling slants stuck in a deplorable circumstance basic nationalism or clear callings about the ability to transcend or address the past. For those who live pleasing lives, they oblige getting some data about the esteem others have paid for their own comfort. That was some kind of understanding that forsakes their feeling more than to some degree vacant and more than a bit truly spent. In Paragraph 35-37, King Jr. strongly points out the negative aspect of riots that can only lead to defeat in their struggle for freedom. He hoped about the future possibilities that can be decided by the white leaders during the social crisis. He shared the fate of American Revolution that occurred in 1776, that gave rise to the democratic republic, against all the cruelties and violence by King Georg. In Paragraph 38-40, King Jr. discussed the Negro revolt that was necessary to remove social injustice and discrimination in the United States. The death of American Negro, Crispus Attucks in 1967, was the beginning of a new struggle to create a society of peace society with ample liberation for all the races and sects (Larrotta, 2016). Emotional association with the past for people or parties or individuals in it are not just a general methodology for genuine seeing yet rather pass on with them essential demand. Luther built up an emotional association with Negros and their struggle to begin to think in an unanticipated course, to get the past in a sudden way, and to consider all the more intentionally about its legacies. The way that they were not talented finds essential responses for aggravating solicitation or no bona fide way to deal with choose the unsettling emotions. References Larrotta, C. (2016). Much has been accomplished sing the cognition of the AIDS virus since its find in the early 1980? s, nevertheless, even as medical interventions become stronger and offer more hope to the victims, AIDS still does non hold a vaccinum to bring around theses victims ( Clarke 92 ) . With the cognition of holding no lasting remedy, AIDS patients tend to oppugn the unwellness, the people environing them, and besides their ain life. When a individual is enduring in life, they experience physical and psychological menaces. These menaces appear to be stronger than the individual? s ain resources ( Rodger et Al. 501 ) . The obliteration of individualism, the feeling of being overwhelmed by an unmanageable force, is the greatest menace to a human being. The AIDS virus greatly effects the victim? s ego regard, organic structure image, independency, environment, and relationships. AIDS is that unmanageable force that threatens so many people in the universe. One? s organic structure is their frame of mention, their agencies of look, and a foundation for set uping and keeping relationships. The organic structure is a manner to show ideas, along with a agencies to associate with the universe. Psychotherapists employ the cognition and techniques of several schools of therapy. The of import facet is the appraisal and rating of what the demands and so the application of intervention in a adept mode. Psychotherapy requires the septic patient and their household to understand the virus itself, the conventional methods of intervention, and the cognition of crisis intercession techniques ( Clarke 88 ) . The chief ends of psychotherapeutics are to assist the patient program for the hereafter, and to assist get by with the unwellness. Coping with the unwellness does non bring around the patient, but it allows for the healing of the fury over an unfair universe. The indulgence of fury allows the dissipation subjugation, and credence of the disease. With credence comes the rejection of unhealthy ostentation, and the ability to work through hatred. Bing able to come to footings with the unwellness may non do the individual wholly happy, but the victim will be at peace. At peace with the satisfaction of cognizing that life will go on, and can still be filled with fantastic minutes and beautiful memories. Once the patient reaches this point of apprehension, the clinical psychologists must move as an agent. The agent enables the patient, who is infected with a socio-politically-loaded chronic unwellness to rejoin society. This is because AIDS patients are like no other. Generally AIDS patients have felt different from other patients of different unwellnesss. Peoples infected with HIV or AIDS feel they have been excluded from society. Many AIDS patients contribute in their ain exclusion by go oning the same feelings of guilt, shame, and discreteness ( Rodger et Al. 501 ) . The ultimate measure in psychotherapeutics is fixing for the approaching events. With the aid of the healers, the patient employs several techniques such as paper-and-pencil end scene, clip lines, or look intoing what undermined end achievement in the yesteryear ( Tsasis 556 ) . Psychotherapy is non the lone beginning of aid AIDS patients have available to them. Many patients use the love of household and friends, speculation, and a healthy diet and emphasis free life. Although many of these methods of intervention may non salvage the life of a patient, these methods do do the yearss that are left more gratifying. AIDS is a disease, but in no manner should it be shunned on, nor should the victims of AIDS be viewed as castawaies. The virtual high schooling has been of a particular concern to students with disabilities who have expanded their opportunities for continuing their education. However, rapid expansion of online study has led to discussing the effectiveness and reliability of virtual learning (Heirdsfield, Walk er, Tambyah, Beutel, 2011). At this point, there is no unanimous opinion if online high schools meet the academic standards and are acceptable for students in terms of their chance for college admission (Barrett, 2011). In addition, little evidence is presented about online courses as a sufficient basis for continuing traditional education. Therefore, it is necessary to define how online preparation in virtual schools influence college admission and evaluate the gap between online and traditional types of learning. Background Online education first appeared in middle of the 90s to gradually become the common technique of distant learning used in the K-12 educational system. The definition of online education is often presented as ââ¬Å"entity approved by a state or governing body that offers courses through distance delivery ââ¬â most commonly using the Internetâ⬠(Barbour Reeves, 2009, p. 402). In contrast, a traditional outlook on schooling is confined to face-to-face communication and open discussions. Currently, online high schools provide alternative solutions to education for students who can take advantage of all opportunities offered online. In fact, virtual high schools can dominate over the traditional system of educations, especially if students search for flexibility and comfortableness (Reid, Aqui, Putney, 2009). However, it has been defined that online learning can be effective in case students are endowed with such characteristics as high motivation, independence in learning, sufficient time management skills, ambition to ask questions, and strong support of family (Reid et al., 2009). More importantly, online learners should depend on face-to-face communication.Advertising Looking for essay on education? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More However, success of distant learning is largely influenced by the quality of teaching (Baran, 2011; Scagnoli, Buki, Johnson, 2009). In particular, online education can be challenged because of lack of qualified teachers who can introduce effective strategies of online learning (Harper Boggan, 2011). To gain a fresh insight into the primary advantages and disadvantages of virtual environment, as compared to the physical one, an in-depth evaluation of both is required from perspective of teachers and students (Murphy Manzanares, 2008). Most importantly, it is important to consider the benefits for students with disabilities to learn distantly (Repetto, Cavanaugh, Wayer, Feng, 2010, p. 91). Overall, the discussion provides incentives to focus on specific groups of student for whom online education is the best solution to receive education. Statement of Problem Little research exists concerning the influence of online preparation on college admission. Specifically, literature provides a review of online learning development as a separate field of education that fails to intertwine with traditional educational sy stems. In addition, no connection is drawn between the requirements for online learners and the ones presented to traditional learners. Finally, the problem of online teaching techniques is discussed, but with little emphasis on its applicability to physical environment. Purpose Statement The purpose of the research is to conduct a quantitative analysis about the impact of academic preparation in a virtual environment on college admission for online high school students. At this point, it is necessary to analyze the benefits and educational programs provided by online courses and compare those to academic curriculum offered in a physical environment. The independent variable, therefore, is online preparation of high school students whereas the dependent variable will be number of online learners admitted to college.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Impact of Academic Preparation in Online High Schools on College Admission specifically for you for only $16. 05 $11/page Learn More By design, the research should be based on a qualitative analysis of interviews and observations, as well as supported materials, including evaluation of online programs in several online high schools and their comparison with traditional high schools programs (Creswell, 2009). The primary data will be collected from the participants who take online courses, as well as teachers offering virtual services. References Bach, S., Haynes, P., Smith, J. L. (2006). Definition and Examples of Abbreviations in English
Definition and Examples of Abbreviations in English An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase, such as Jan. for January. The abbreviated form of the word abbreviation isà abbr. - or, less commonly, abbrv. or abbrev. In American English, many abbreviations are followed by a period (Dr., Ms.). In contrast, British usage generally favors omitting the period (or full stop) in abbreviations that include the first and last letters of a single word (Dr, Ms). When an abbreviation appears at the end of a sentence, a single period serves both to mark the abbreviation and to close the sentence. Linguist David Crystal notes that abbreviations are a major component of the English writing system, not a marginal feature. The largest dictionaries of abbreviations contain well over half a million entries, and their number is increasing all the time (Spell It Out, 2014). Here are some common examples of variousl types of abbreviations: AcronymBackronymCommonly Confused Latin Abbreviations in EnglishCommon Revision Symbols and AbbreviationsCommon Scholarly AbbreviationsE.g. and I.e.Etc. and Et al.InitialeseInitialismLogograph Etymology Abbreviation comes from the Latin word brevis meaning short. Examples and Observations In general, spell out the names of government bureaus and agencies, well-known organizations, companies, etc., on first reference. In later references, use short forms like the agency or the company when possible because handfuls of initials make for mottled typography and choppy prose.Abbreviations may be ironic, humorous, or whimsical: for example, the rail link between the town of Bedford and the London station of St. Pancras is locally known as the Bedpan Line; a comparable link for Boston, New York, and Washington is the Bosnywash circuit. Comments on life may be telescoped into such sardonic packages as: BOGSAT a Bunch Of Guys Sitting Around a Table (making decisions about other people); GOMER Get Out of My Emergency Room (said by physicians to hypochondriacs); MMMBA Miles and Miles of Bloody Africa (an in-group term among people who have to travel those miles); TGIF Thank God Its Friday (after a particularly hard working week).AbbrevesToday, the fave (for favoriteââ¬â¢) abb reves are obvi (a shortening of Thank you, Captain Obviousââ¬â¢) and belig (a clipping of belligerent, retaining the soft g). Nobody in the young-barflies crowd orders the usualââ¬â¢; itââ¬â¢s the yoozh. My grandnephew Jesse concludes sentences with whatev, which is probs (for probablyââ¬â¢) whatever. In this cacophony of abbreves, word endings are scattered all over the floor. Go fig. Totes include for at,à à £ for pound, % for per cent, and for plus. The ampersand, , is one of the oldest. It is a collapsed version of the Latin word et, and: the bottom circle is whats left of the e, and the rising tail on the right is whats left of the t. Numerals are another kind that we read as 1, 2, 3, etc. as one, two, three... And it is part of the business of learning to read and write to know when we should write words in their logographic form and when to spell them out. Sources A. Hindu Tradition + Christian Thought + Greek Philosophy Research Paper
Hindu Tradition + Christian Thought + Greek Philosophy - Research Paper Example Under Saivism, Shiva is considered to be the supreme God, with his two forms being the lingam and the human form. Among the variants of the Human form, the most important is the dancing posture called Nataraja and also Dakshinamoorthy, the instructor of four sages. Vaishnavism on the other hand has its roots in Northeren India where the Aryans were mostly concentrated. It became renown in the 3rd century AD. Vaishnavites believe that Vishnu is the supreme power, and that god is personal and the ultimate goal of life is to be the servant of god, through faith or Bhakti. Modern Vaishnavites also believe that Vishnu takes many incarnations every eon ( Bhandarkar, 48,62, 160,165) Temples Along with the differences in sects and cultures between north and south India, considerable difference in the style of architecture has also been noticed. The most prominent parts by which they can be differentiated are their superstructures, and also the plan, vertical structure, statues and motifs. Th e major part of northern India, from the foothills of the Himalayas to the Bengal region has temples in the northern style; whereas the southern style was concentrated to the more southerly interiors had a consistent style. Mixture of the two occurs towards the central parts of India (Temple Styles, 86). The temples of India were classified as according to their typological features and were divided into Nagara, Dravida and Vesara styles, mainly signifying square, octagonal or apsidal ended shapes and these dictate the other structural parts of the temple. The Nagara style was common in Northern India, whereas the Dravida style was famous in southern India. Building of a temple in India in those times were mainly the religious beliefs of the kings who ascended the throne. So most of the temples were known according to the king under whom they were built. Various styles have been exported to places all over the world, including Texas (Temple Styles, 88). Around thirty four Hindu temp les exist in Texas, with about fifteen in Houston and Dallas. Various types of temples have emerged in the United States, such as the Sri Meenakshi Temple in Houston, which is an example of a temple dedicated to one particular deity, Goddess Meenakshi, but in keeping with the tradition of unity in diversity, with so many sects in the Hindu culture, the worship of Shiva is also done here, in the form of Lord Shri Sundareswara. Vaishnava traditions are also celebrated as the temple is also dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, another form of Vishnu. Thus this temple does not concentrate on any one sect but provides a multiple option of pursuing ones faith (Brady, 87; Laderman and Leon, 102). Majority of these temples were built according to the Vastu Shastra of the Vedic period, with modern adaptations. These new temples have spacious halls, and used for weddings and other cultural occasions. In most temples there is one main deity, but the deities of the other sects and customs are also recognized. This is because of lack of space in foreign land, but it also helps to foster good relations between the various sects present there (Badlani, 329-330). For a decision, as to which deity to be made the main one in a temple, becomes a much debated topic. Various devotees lobby for the different sects, and sometimes a temple that is supposed to bring in peace and harmony becomes a cause of division. Reaching a consensus is very difficult due to large number

Personality Assessment Instruments Essay Example for Free
Personality Assessment Instruments Essay Personality Assessment instruments are comprised of theories and techniques to measure an individualââ¬â¢s personality traits. The traditional psychoanalytical theories provide a framework for understanding negative behavior as well as concepts that predict future behavioral outcomes. Because of the possibility of predictive personality traits, career counselors and organizations have used personality assessment instruments to screen possible employers for qualification. In addition, personality assessment instrument have also been used to detect disordered personalities or other unresolved issues that cause negative behavior patterns in an individual. In this paper I will discuss three Personality Assessment Instruments widely used in measuring an individualââ¬â¢s personality; Myer-Briggs Type Indicator, Rorschach Inkblot Test and self help books. I will discuss the validity, comprehensiveness, applicability and cultural utility of these personality assessments in also examine the strengths and weaknesses of why some work and some do not. The strength and weaknesses of each personality assessment instrument is key in understanding which instrument is ââ¬Å"appropriateâ⬠to use. Myer-Briggs Type Indicator Largely based on Carl Jungââ¬â¢s Theory of Personality, The Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) was created by Katherine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myer, during WWII to evaluate personality types to know where to place women entering the industrial workforce. The MBTI would assess women for jobs they were best qualified for. Seeing how successful the MBTI was in placing women in the workforce, today it is still used as an assessment instrument by career counselors and organizations for team building (McCaulley, 2000). The MBTI is a self-report, forced-choice questionnaire. The letters represent the respective personality types which have 16 unique possible outcomes. The test has about 100 questions with only two choices to pick from. MBTI divides an individualââ¬â¢s personality into four areas (McCaulley, 2000); 1. Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I) . Sensing (S) or intuition (N) 3. Thinking (T) or feeling (F) 4. Judging (J) or perceiving (P) This scale is an important factor in determining the dominant, auxiliary, tertiary and inferior behaviors of the individual (McCaulley, 2000). Each individual is measured by the four-letter type formula. Each group of letters reveals the dominant function of the individual and followed by the auxiliary. Each of the 16 combination of letters explains the personââ¬â¢s personality and what area they best function in. Rorschach Inkblot Test Hermann Rorschach, Swiss psychiatrist, created ill-defined designs on paper using ink. After much trial and error, Rorschach settled on 10 inkblot cards used to show to patients and illicit a response. It was determined that different patients in a particular psychiatric group gave different responses. The test was created to understand the mind of an individual. During the assessment, the patient is shown a card and is expected to explain the thoughts that come to mind when analyzing the card (Cervone, 2010). The test-giver waits to see the type of response that comes from the patient. And the question of how the patient responds or perceives the inkblot determines the type of personality the patient may have. If the patientââ¬â¢s response matches the inkblot structureââ¬â¢s intended meaning, then the patientââ¬â¢s thoughts are geared towards their reality. If the patientââ¬â¢s response does not correspond with the inkblot then the patient is perceived to have a dysfunctional personality. Self-Help Books Widely popular, Self-help books are a great way for a person to understand psychological disorders and possible treatments. There are a variety of books written by scholars and psychologist who have done extensive work in their area of expertise. Many people who are skeptical about going to therapy choose self-help books as a way to self-administer treatment (Redding et. al, 2008). The problem people face when relying on these books for help is that there is no discussion to make sure that the person understands what they are reading. Also, the books cannot assess the person to see if they can help the person like the MBTI and Rorschach Inkblot do. There is no way to measure if the specific book can help the person. Personality Assessments: from Theory to Practice In this next section I will examine the validity, comprehensiveness, applicability and cultural utility. Throughout my research I have discovered that some critics have argued that each of these personality assessment instruments have weaknesses that do not support what it claims to produce. Others critics have shown the strengthsââ¬â¢ in these widely used personality assessment to be applied in various cultures that have shown consistent scoring. Validity One of the most widely used personality assessment instruments is self-help books. They are easily accessible by most people seeking to resolve psychological issues. However, it is difficult to say if what the writer proposes to be a solution works effectively for the reader (Redding et. al. , 2008). The problem with the validity of self-help books is that not all are written by professional psychologist. Often people are faced with serious psychological disorders that they wish to resolve on their own as opposed to therapy (Redding et. l, 2008). Another issue with self-help books is that they do not test people to see if they have applied the information coming from the book to the area in their life where they face challenges nor can it pinpoint the exact disorder a person is dealing with. I would have to say that the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator holds the most validity out of the three personality assessment instruments and is the most favored. The MBTI has been tested and based on the 16 different possible personality types most people have fallen under one of the combinations. The MBTI follows the theory of personality traits by Carl Jung. Jungââ¬â¢s theory distinguishes two dichotomous pairs of cognitive behavior: extraversion and introversion (McCaulley, 2008). The MBTI has been shown to be successful in determining an individualââ¬â¢s personality that fits a specific career or in organizing groups for team building. On the other hand, when a person has been assessed using the Rorschach inkblot test, disordered personality can be revealed thru extensive testing. The validity of the Rorschach inkblot test as but argued that there is a bias in the testing because Hermann Rorschachââ¬â¢s training was in psychoanalytical theories. Another problem that arises with the Rorschach in examining its validity is the scoring of the test. Many of the scorers give a higher score to the test taker if their response matches those of previous scorers (Sendin, 2010). Comprehensiveness Self-help books focus on an areas in an individualââ¬â¢s life such as alcohol addictions, Attention Deficit Disorder, How to deal with a Break-Up. And while the books can be informative the theory behind the solution must be examined. Most self-help books are written in the opinion of the author writing the book. Some of these opinions may not be in accord with the readerââ¬â¢s background so it is difficult to say if the reader is able to comprehend what the author is conveying (Redding et. al, 2008). It also depends only what the reader is looking for. If the reader is open to alternative solutions as opposed to traditional one then the book will help but because a person is not tested on the self-help books they are reading it is hard to determine how comprehensive the book is. MBTI has 16 possible personality types that this world-wide instrument uses to address issues faced by individuals, groups and family counseling that are challenged with communication, career planning, learning and life -long development (McCaulley, 2000). When assessing an individualââ¬â¢s personality not only is this helpful in career counseling but also when determining why individuals or family members are having communication problems. Applicability Self-help books can be easy to understand. Some of the methods are broken down in simple steps that anyone can apply. However, if one wants to assess the type of personality that can handle a certain job the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator is more appropriate to use. This assessment instrument has been used by career counselors and employers to match individuals to specific studies or industries (McCaulley, 2008). I would not recommend using the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator when assessing an individualââ¬â¢s personality for disorders. The Rorschach Inkblot has been a successful instrument in examining the mind of a person (Cervone, 2010). However, the Rorschach inkblot was constructed according to Hermann Rorschachââ¬â¢s training in psychoanalytical theory. Cultural Utility Each culture is made of its own belief system and traditions. What applies in one culture may not necessarily apply in another. Some assessments can be used in most cultures and give the same results across the board. However, not all cultures will accept the theories behind the assessment. The issues that I have noticed in researching the MBTI and Rorschach Inkblot test is that in applying to different cultures there has been challenges faced by psychologist. For one, psychologists have not had extensive training in cultural diversity. Nor have they had training in language. Most ethnic low income groups have had poor health service in which there has been a misdiagnosis due to language barrier (Dana, 2000). Also to consider are groups who come from another country and have different views on the mental health system. For example, in administering the MBTI and Rorschach Inkblot test to Russian Jews challenges are faced because of their cultural belief. Russian Jews are highly suspicious of mental health professionals and find it difficult to believe that community health agencies do not have ties to the government (Dana, 200). As a result, they deny any mental health issues. The fear that exists with Russian Jews is because of the way they saw the Soviet Government force people to commit to a mental health institute (Dana, 2000). Consequently, self help books have been successful in reaching a mass audience because books have been published in various languages. Conclusion As you can see Personality Assessment Instruments have been very useful in helping to examine an individualââ¬â¢s personality for career choices, in team building and examining a disorder. However, specialist have has revealed their weaknesses and show that these instruments cannot be applied in any situation without further investigation. Each personality assessment instrument is unique with itââ¬â¢s own characters. In order to be able to better serve the mental health industry only a particular assessment can be used for a specific analysis.

The Effects of Bilingualism on Language Development Essay -- Language
The effects of bilingualism on language development in children are examined. Theories suggest that bilingual children are able to learn a second language after the first is mastered. One of the reasons behind this is that the child has already developed the nonverbal concept of the word (because the child is already using it in the primary language), so only the verbal concept must be constructed. It has been shown that balanced bilinguals are more cognitively and linguistically flexible. However, unbalanced bilinguals generally show mixed results. Introduction Impact of Bilingualism In California, bilingualism is a big issue. Most people in California are not bilingual, but there is a large minority that does speak a second language. Of those second languages, Spanish is by far the most widely spoken, mainly because of California's close proximity to Mexico. Bilingualism is a hot topic in California's political arena as well. The move to halt bilingual education is a prime example of this. Although a large portion of the population speaks a second language, such as Spanish, there are those who trumpet the benefits of monolingualism in schools. They cite the opinion that children will be confused in school and will not be able to differentiate between the two languages. The Crucible ââ¬â How does Miller make vivid the triumph of superstition over reason and common sense?à In ââ¬ËThe Crucibleââ¬â¢, Miller creates an atmosphere in Salem where hysteria rules the village while reason and common sense are put aside. The superstitions of a few young teenage girls are taken seriously by the largely Christian village; to the point of a broken theocracy and where all reason is lost. In Act III, there are many dramatic scenes in the courtroom which show the power of the girlsââ¬â¢ overbearing superstitions. At the beginning of the play, Mary Warren joined in with the other girls in the forest with their hysteria and witchcraft. However, she converts to Proctorââ¬â¢s side and in court says ââ¬Å"It were pretence, sirâ⬠to Danforth. She tries to save Proctor by turning in the girls and admitting that Abigail had been telling lies. This comes to no avail and then Abigail, with the other girls, puts on an act and starts copying Mary Warren as if Mary had bewitched her. Mary gives in and turns on Proctor saying ââ¬Å"Youââ¬â¢re the Devilââ¬â¢s Man!â⬠Mary tried to have reason and common sense by defying the girls but the way she gave in to their act of hysteria shows how superstition triumphs over reason and common sense. As mentioned previously, Mary Warren initially testifies against Abigail and the other girls in Act III. To this point, Danforth was fully behind Abigail and believed her but now questions her to tell the truth. Abigail forcefully confronts him and says angrily, ââ¬Å"I have been hurt, Mr Danforthâ⬠¦To be mistrusted, denied, questioned like a -ââ¬Å". Miller describes Danforthââ¬â¢s retorts as ââ¬Ëweakeningââ¬â¢ in the stage directions and Abigail presses on to further threaten Danforth in the words ââ¬Å"Let you beware, Mr Danforthâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ . With most other people in the play, Danforth simply dismisses their stories but he is incapable of a rational argument against Abigail. Danforth is meant to be a man of reason and common sense; he is a judge after all but Abigailââ¬â¢s manipulation of him causes him to lose all reason and he lets her continue to wreck havoc. Abigail is the source of all the superstitions in ââ¬ËThe Crucibleââ¬â¢ so her control over Danforth signifies the triumph of superstition over good reason and common sense. Throughout the play, John Proctor is a respectful man; the only one with a sense of reason and not fooled by the witchcraft hysteria. In Act IV, Proctor chooses to die instead of giving away his good name to witchcraft. After choosing to die he says ââ¬Å"â⬠¦I see some goodness in John Proctor.â⬠If he had confessed, he would have lost his common sense and given in to false superstitions. In this way, Proctor not only keeps his name but doesnââ¬â¢t let superstitions get the better of him; one of the few parts of the play where reason and common sense prevail.à Salem is a community filled with hardworking people who have good reason and sense about them. A few lies and superstitions cause all their lives to crumble down and good values vanish. The one man not fooled by the witchcraft nonsense, John Proctor, keeps common sense alive in Salem but is hanged to die; leaving the village ruled by superstition.

The German Lyrics for Edelweiss
The German Lyrics for 'Edelweiss' If youre a fan of the The Sound of Music, then you probably have the words to Edelweiss memorized. But if you only know the song in English, its time to learn how to sing it inà German. Edelweiss is more than just a sweet song from a classic musical. Its also a goodà example of how songs are translated into different languages. Though it was written in English for a 1959 American musical set in Austriaà that was adapted as a movie in 1965, German lyrics werent written until later. It might surprise you to learn that the translation isnt exact; in fact, its not even close, except in the general sentiment. Before we get into the translation, heres some background on the song. Edelweiss Isnt German or Austrian The first thing you should know about Edelweiss is that its not an Austrian or German song. The only thing German about it is its title and the alpine flower itself. The song was written and composed by two Americans:à Richard Rodgersà (music) andà Oscar Hammerstein IIà (lyrics). Hammerstein had a German heritage- his grandfather, Oscar Hammerstein I, was born in what is now Poland to a German-speaking Jewish family- but the song is strictly American. In the film, Captain von Trapp (played byà Christopher Plummer) sings an emotional version of Edelweiss, a resounding, memorable rendition that may have contributed to the false idea that its the Austrian national anthem. The second thingà to know aboutà Edelweiss is that it, like The Sound of Music, is virtually unknown in Austria. Although Salzburg, Austria, bills itself as The Sound of Music City, customers for The Sound of Music tours include very few Austrians or Germans. Edelweiß der Liedtext (Edelweiss Lyrics) Music by Richard RogersEnglish Lyrics byà Oscar HammersteinDeutsch: UnknownMusical: The Sound of Music Edelweiss is a very simple song no matter which language you choose to sing it in. Its a great way to practice your German with a tune that you probably already know. Both the German and English lyrics are below. Notice how each language uses the songs rhythm and hasà the same or nearly the same number of syllables per line. Both sets of lyrics have a romantic feel, not only in the meaning of the wordsà but also in how they sound. German Lyrics English Lyrics Direct Translation Edelweiß, Edelweiß, Edelweiss, Edelweiss, Edelweiss, Edelweiss Du grà ¼ÃŸt mich jeden Morgen, Every morning you greet me You greet me every morning, Sehe ich dich, Small and white, I see you, Freue ich mich, clean and bright I am looking, Und vergess' meine Sorgen. You look happy to meet me. And I forget my worries. Schmà ¼cke das Heimatland, Blossom of snow Decorate the home country, Schà ¶n und weiß, may you bloom and grow, Beautiful and white, Blà ¼hest wie die Sterne. Bloom and grow forever. Flourishing like the stars. Edelweiß, Edelweiß, Edelweiss, Edelweis, Edelweiss, Edelweiss, Ach, ich hab dich so gerne. Bless my homeland forever. Oh, I love you so much. Anà Example of How Songs Are Translated In translating songs, how they sound and flow with the music is more important than an exact transliteration of the words. Thats why the German translation is significantly different fromà Hammersteins English lyrics. We dont know who wrote the German lyrics for Edelweiss, yet he or she did a good job of retaining the meaning of Hammersteins song. Its interesting to compare all three versions side by side so we can see how musical translations work.

Responsibility and Accountability Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Responsibility and Accountability - Essay Example This means that one can be relied upon to oversee and implement their duties. Accountability, on the other hand, involves the assumption and acknowledgment of the consequences of actions, policies and decisions in governance and administration. It also encompasses the obligation to report, elaborate and be answerable for the consequences resulting from the decisions. Being accountable entails assuming the results for a particular action. In the community, it is important to identify who is responsible for certain actions and the one accountable for the consequences of these actions. Currently, there is an ongoing debate regarding the application of responsibility and accountability in the governing bodies. The roles that public relations practitioners take imply the responsibility to undertake certain functions. In business, the term can be used to describe the obligations or duties that have been assigned to a person with respect to the personââ¬â¢s function or position. The gains and losses that come with women's liberation Essay
The gains and losses that come with women's liberation - Essay Example However, it is no secret that Freud has been much criticized on many points, and his theory of femininity has been among targets of such criticism. This fact does not really demote the value of Freudian insight, and I think that study of his views on femininity and the opposing ideas of other scholars can give us a better comprehension of the subject of study itself. In this regard, let us undertake a closer examination of Freud's theory of femininity, and try to see what objections to it were offered by Karen Horney, an outstanding theorist of psychology, and Simone de Beauvoir, a famous French existentialist philosopher. One of the tasks that Freud set before psychoanalysis was to explain how a woman develops from a child with initial bisexuality. The very method of psychoanalysis developed by Freud was in essence a psychological therapy that was dealing with interpretation of dreams, free association, and with investigation of displacement of feelings in relation to other people in order to uncover unconscious and repressed motives, conflicts, and anxieties of people and liberate their psychic energy. Besides, Freud viewed the period of childhood as an extremely important developmental stage that to a large degree defines and determines our personality. ... For one, according to Freud, women develop a greater attraction to narcissism which becomes a decisive factor in the psychological development of girls and begins to influence them in such a way that for women it becomes more important to be loved than to love. As one of the hidden reasons of this developmental tendency Freud offers the concept of penis-envy, which describes an unconscious feeling of sexual inferiority that women have in relation to men. Due to this complex that challenges the physical vanity, women tend to highly estimate their charms, in this way compensating for their sexual inferiority dictated by penis-envy. Freud also thinks that another unconscious manifestation of perceived genital deficiency of women is represented by the sensation of shame that is traditionally considered to be a feminine quality. In an intricate twist of reasoning, he suggests that female feeling of shame in its later period of development in women can even be linked with the invention of weaving and plaiting, which are arguably among few inventions introduced by women. Now, Freud theorizes that the unconscious motive behind the mentioned techniques is the attempt to mimic through artificial adherence of threads the natural phenomenon of the growth of the pubic hair that hides the genitals. Another essential characteristic of women in accordance with Freuds theory of femininity is seen in a marriage after the birth of the first child. At this point, when a woman who had previously been a daughter becomes a mother herself, she may reinforce the previously opposed identification with her mother. This event may in its turn attract libido to itself that may work to repeat the

HR Plan Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
HR Plan - Essay Example This false gesture of making the workers feel important can motivate them to work more efficiently. Human relations (HR) theory needs also to focus on retention of skilled employees for the benefit of the organization. In order to maintain satisfaction within employees and to make the organization attractive for potential employees, management must provide them employment benefits like health benefits. In many organizations, there is a one person HR department in which a solo individual is given the responsibility of performing all aspects of human relations management. It is up to the efficiency of that person which determines how well he can face the challenges and takes advantages of the opportunities to prove himself as a strong leader (Brady, 2006, p.1). For an effective human relations management, the strategy is to learning how to balance different aspects of the departments. Working tirelessly for long hours will reduce the efficiency of the manager as he will lose focus on h is critical responsibilities. In this paper, a HR program is created for a retail business firm that sells variety of products ranging from beauty products to apparels. It has over 1,000 stores in several U.S. states with over 120,000 employees. How To Straighten Teeth Without Wearing Braces English Language Essay
How To Straighten Teeth Without Wearing Braces English Language Essay You might wonder if it is really possible to straighten your teeth and have them in a pearly row without having to wear braces. A few years ago if you had buck teeth or uneven teeth then your only option of getting them straightened was to opt for braces. This is considered to be quite cumbersome as it involves the painful process of wearing braces. However this is a thing of the past. This will spare you from having to wear braces for years. You now do have the option of being able to cut short the process of straightening your teeth and not go through the painful and long drawn out process of having to wear braces. And yet go on to have the best of teeth. The latest is the use of invisalign in place of the traditional braces that have always been used. The way the invisalign is made is that it has a set of retainer like mouthpieces. The role of these are to ensure that your teeth are straight and in a row. It takes about a year to straighten out your teeth by using invisalign and sparing yourself the use of braces. However, the flip side to invisalign is that they work well on teeth with minor misplacement. Another option for you could be the use of veneers. The use of veneers ensures that you are able to apply them directly to your teeth and you wont have to deal with the old imperfect row of teeth any longer. There are two different kinds of veneers that you can choose from which are either porcelain or composite. You can discuss it further with the orthodontist regarding whether it will be the right kind of thing to opt for, for your kind of teeth. If your teeth are overcrowded then you might be able to go for cosmetic contouring rather than having braces on. This is an absolutely pain free process and will have your teeth reshaped by a cosmetic dentist. Within a visit or two to the dentist you will be done. Therefore, it does not take that long a process as with braces. There are removable orthodontic appliances that you can wear at night or on specific days. These though work best on the upper row of teeth. If you want to avoid the use of braces then this might work out to be a good enough option to talk over with the orthodontist. There are retainers that can help correct the alignment of the teeth. Ask your dentist if one of these can be designed specifically for your teeth. However, keep in mind that most of these techniques work for people who need minor corrections to their teeth. In case they need major straightening of the teeth then they might not be the right kind of candidate for this kind of procedure. If you have already worn braces for a while and then given up on them, then this kind of procedure will work fine for you. 11.Ã Ã Ã How Can I Remove Stains From Ceramic Braces? Many people prefer to opt for ceramic braces as they are less visible and intrusive. They are more aesthetic than the full metal ones. These ceramic braces need to be attached to the tooth surface using ligatures which are tiny rubber bands and thin metals. This helps in the realignment of the teeth. This in turn adds to the stain on the teeth as they easily pick up the stains from the food and drink that they are exposed to. This starts looking ugly and unattractive and can go on to give your teeth a really ugly yellowish hue to them. The first thing that you should do is to bring to the attention of the orthodontist the stains and how they affect you. The glue that is used will be minimized and regular visits to the orthodontist will ensure that you have no noticeable stains on your teeth. When you choose the colors for the ligature ensure that you choose right. There are some colors that stain less when compared to other colors. It is a not a good idea to opt for ligatures that are invisible and white in color as the chances of them getting stained are more. On the other hand ligatures that are dark in color such as blacks and maroons will stain less. The only thing that you might mind with these dark ligatures is that they make the wearing of braces obvious. Pastel colors are a good option and they show less of staining with enough good dental hygiene. The next thing that you need to consider in order to go on and keep your cosmetic braces and teeth stain free is good hygiene. This includes brushing and flossing of your teeth diligently and regularly. Ensure that you are able to reach the hard to reach areas as well. 12.Ã Ã Ã Take Care of Your Braces To Get The Best Smile If you want to be left behind with one of the most dazzling of smiles after the braces treatment then you do need to ensure that you take good care of the braces. The thing is that when you have braces on you have more bands, brackets and wires in your teeth than you will have at any other time in your life. This makes brushing of your teeth far more difficult that is the reason you need to learn of the right way to go about and brush your teeth. Also, with the braces on you will not be able to chew in the most normal of fashions. This is one of the reasons why you should maintain top hygienic conditions in order to avoid any development of cavities in your teeth. This can further foster the entrapment of food and pieces of your meal which can go on to create tartar and plaque on your teeth. As you brush between the wires of your braces you should ensure that you take due care of them. Also you should ensure that you do follow the restrictions that have been laid down by your orthodontist. This will go on to increase the treatment options and within no time your braces will be off and you will be left behind with a sparkling smile to boot. Ensure that you make the right food choices when you have your braces on. Do not gorge on sticky food as this will cause more dental decay and make it difficult for you to go on and clean between your braces. Also, try and eliminate hard and crunchy foods from your diet as this might go on to harm your braces and interfere with the treatment. The hard food can go on to bend and warp the braces which will interfere with your treatment. Also, the rubber bands will be loosened and this will not go on to place enough tension on to your teeth. Do not put anything into your mouth whilst you have braces on such as pencils, pens, fingers, ice cubes as this will affect your braces. Do not eat food with a high content of citric acid as it will make your teeths enamel weak and dissolve it. The next thing to keep in mind when you have your braces on is that you do need to take the utmost care of your teeth and hygiene in fact more than what you did previously. What you need to do is to brush and floss your teeth diligently at least three times a day if not multiple amounts of times. Also, floss with great care so as to remove the hidden particles of food from every nook and crevice of your teeth. Do not bite your fingernails or plastic packaging. If you take all of these considerations, the moment you remove your braces you will be left behind with the most dazzling of smiles. 13 Affordable Orthodontics How to Find Cheap Dental Braces You know htat you need to have braces on your teeth in order to straighten them out and get the best smile possible for yourself, but what is holding you back in the cost for the braces. Do not despair as there are ways by which you can go on to have the best possible braces for yourself without emptying out your wallet. What you need to consider is the finding of cheap dental braces. There are ways in which you can go on to save big money on your braces. You might want to look at your insurance policy but unless you have a separate policy for dental care your policy will not go on to cover it. Moreover, you should have taken the policy way before the need for one arose. Also, with the insurance policy there is a specified limit and once you go on to cross that limit you will not find any further financial help. Another alternative to this is to opt for a discounted dental plan. This is a plan that goes on to offer you a hefty discount on the orthodontist treatment that you opt for. This discounted dental plan goes on to work even for existing concerns unlike in the case of an insurance plan. What you need to do is to join the plan and then you can avail of the discounts right away. Another way to get yourself cheap braces is to discuss it with your orthodontist or their office. You might feel hesitant and embarrassed to ask for a discount but you will be amazed at the amount that you can save that way. There are dentists who might offer you a discount in their fees or the materials that goes into the treatment for braces. There are several trainee hospitals that need patients for their students to be able to learn. You can take an appointment with one of these. These might be completely free or they might just charge you for the materials used. You need not worry as the students are under the strict vigilance of their coach who is a trained professional orthodontist. The only flip side to this is that it might take a wee bit longer than envisaged. But, it is certainly worth it as you end up getting the treatment almost free of cost. If you are looking for saving more money on the braces then you can let your orthodontist know about that and they will show you braces that are not that aesthetic to look at but work just as well. these are priced at a far more lower rate and they actually work in straightening out your teeth and getting you a discount as well. The approximate costs for braces works out to be about $5000 but if you play it smart you can get them done at a far cheaper rate than that. 14 How to Clean Your Mouth With Dental Braces When you have braces on your mouth is going to be filled with wires, brackets and metal of all kind. This will make it all the more hard for an ordinary tooth brush to reach the various parts of your mouth and teeth. But, it is absolutely imperative that you brush and floss diligently several times in a day if you want to keep cavity and gum disease at bay. That is one of the reasons why you need to adopt a stringent hygiene control method that will have you cleaning your teeth and mouth in the right manner. you need to ensure that you eat the right kinds of food that are not sticky and hard so as to stick to your teeth and be hard for a brush to remove. Also, avoid food that is highly acidic in nature in order to guard your teeth enamel against weakening and wearing off. Avoid all kinds of food that is high in fructose and glucose as they are sticky and a natural breeding ground for bacteria. The first thing to remember when you have braces on is to brush and floss your teeth after every meal that you eat. Before you go to bed at night it is imperative that you clean your mouth well and remove all traces of food from it. You need a soft brush and one that is able to give you a thorough brushing. Make your toothbrush and toothpaste your best friends and carry them along with you wherever you go. This will enable you to get into the habit of brushing after every meal no matter where you are. Every time that you visit your orthodontist they will clean your teeth professionally in order to remove any build up of plaque and tartar. There are dentists that might go on to apply braces wax on your teeth in order to go on and protect it from the harmful effect of food on it. Also, there are a few readymade braces cleaning kits available in the market. The braces kit will consist of a range of toothbrushes, toothpastes, and dental wax. When you have all of this in one place you will be more likely to reach out for them and use them. Make sure that you pay special attention to the kind of toothpaste and tooth brush that you use. The toothbrush should have an angular head and be able to brush at all angles. The bristles on it should be soft. The toothbrush should have special ingredients to help it fight tooth decay and work at it for a longer duration. There is no two ways about oral hygiene being extremely important and more so when you have braces on. You need to strive really hard to keep your teeth; braces and mouth squeaky clean and stop the buildup of bacteria in them. Using all of these techniques you are bound to have teeth that are sparkling even with braces on. 15.Ã Ã Ã Things to Know Before Getting Dental Braces Is there one person in this world who does not want the best of smiles? A good smile is one that has all the teeth in a row and sparking white. All of us are not gifted with the best of teeth but with the help of braces you can go on to significantly straighten out your teeth. Braces are certainly going to be good for you but you need to ask a few relevant and pertinent questions before you go about with them. This will enable you to know what you are getting into. The first thing that you should ask your orthodontist is about the treatment and how long will it take. You will also want to find out the cost about the treatment for the braces so that you arent in for any unpleasant shocks mid-way through the treatment. Also, ask if you need braces for the top and the bottom row of teeth. This can further lower the cost for you. Furthermore, check the kind of braces that you will get. Will they be metal, ceramic or invisalign? This will decide on the cost. The average costs of braces come up to $5000. The next thing for you to do is to find out whether your insurance plan will cover the cost for the braces and how much of it. Go though the insurance policy that you have in order to find that out. Ask your orthodontist what you should expect at each stage of the braces treatment. This will allow you to know the exact duration, and outcomes so that you wont be disappointed or expect more than need be. When you are asking your orthodontist the questions ensure that you ask them about the care and precautions that you will have to take with your braces on. This will ensure that you are ready to make all the sacrifices needed in order to go ahead and eat the right kind of food. You will have to realize that you will have to give up smoking, all kinds of carbonated drinks and sticky sugary food. But all of this is certainly going to be worth it when you see your smile in the mirror and your teeth in a straight row. Also, you will be able to gain the kind of confidence like none other. You might also want to ask your orthodontist which braces will suit you the best. If your teeth are really crooked and need a whole lot of straightening work to be done on them then you need metallic braces. There are also the latest almost transparent invisalign braces. Ask the right kind of questions and get yourself for the most beautiful of smiles once your braces are off. When you go in for the next dental check up and are considering getting yourself braces then go on and ask these questions to your dentist to make the right decision. 16.Ã Ã Ã Teeth and Gums Care While Wearing Dental Braces The good thing about wearing braces is that you will be able to get your teeth in line and the smile that you deserve. However, the flip side to wearing braces is that you need to ensure that you maintain the best of hygiene in order to be able to keep your teeth and gums in top notch condition. There are several hard to reach areas in your mouth and they become all the more difficult once you have metals and wires in your mouth. Under that circumstance, what you need to do is to ensure that you clean your mouth multiple times in a day. This will make certain that you are able to avoid cavities and the multiplying of harmful bacteria in your mouth. The first thing that you need to ensure once you have the braces on is the dental hygiene and the time and effort that you devote to it. You dont want to be left with straight teeth but those full of carries. That will certainly serve no purpose for you. Invest in a braces cleaning kit. This will consist of different kinds of toothbrushes such as the angular headed ones that are able to reach the most hidden of nooks and crevices in your mouth. Also, you will need a special kind of toothpaste that is good at fighting tooth decay and works for a longer time. The onus of brushing and flossing your teeth regularly lies completely on you.
